Table of Equivalences

The table of equivalences indicated under


- First Transitory Complementary Provision of Supreme Decree No. 040-2008-MTC


shall be applied to all Class “A” driver’s licenses in their different categories issued before the entry into force of the National Regulations on Driver’s Licenses for Motorized and Non-Motorized Land Transport Vehicles, approved by Supreme Decree No.040-2008-MTC and its modifying standards, when the duplicate or renewal is processed.

A-I Class “A”, Category I driver’s license holders holding license for less than two (02) years
A-IIa Class “A”, Category I driver’s license holders holding license for more than two (02) years (02) years (**)
A-IIb Class “A”, Category II driver’s license holders
A-IIIa Class “A”, Category III driver’s license holders who certify that they have worked in passenger transport service during the previous (06) months (*)
A-IIIb Class “A”, Category III driver’s license holders who certify that they have worked in freight transport service during the previous (06) months
A-IIIc Class “A”, Category III driver’s license holders who must attach a Driver Professionalization Certificate for any transport services for which they do not submit any certificates (*)

(*) The certification will be granted based on supporting documents through which they can certify that the service required for the intended category has indeed been carried out. In case such documents are not available, it is possible to submit an affidavit.


(**) In case a Class “A”, Category I driver’s license holder who has held the license for more than 02 years wishes to obtain a Class “A”, Category II driver’s license, he/she shall follow one of the two following procedures, as applicable:

NOTES:


  1. Applicants for a Class "A", Category II and III driver's license are only allowed to have restriction c, as indicated in Article 22 of the current Regulations. Restrictions based on the holder’s physical disability and which are to be stated in the license are: c) Must use corrective glasses or contact lenses.

  2. The requirement to take the knowledge reinforcement course will be recognized as met when presenting the driver’s training certificate issued by the Training Entities authorized by the General Directorate for Land Transport, according to the statements in:
