Supreme Decree No. 040-2008-MTC


Art. 68.- Except for drivers holding Class A licenses


Certificates for changing category of driver’s license:


  • Medical psychosomatic fitness certificate

    Issuing entity: Health Care Center authorized by MTC or the Regional Directorate of Transports and Communications
    Validity: Six (06) months and valid throughout Peru


  • Driver professionalization course:

    Training period:
    AII-a:    55 hours, within maximum period of 60 calendar days
    AII-b:    55 hours, within maximum period of 60 calendar days
    AIII-a:   55 hours, within maximum period of 60 calendar days
    AIII-b:   55 hours, within maximum period of 60 calendar days
    AIII-c:   95 hours, within maximum period of 60 calendar days


  • Extraordinary instruction course:

         Issuing entity: Driving School authorized by MTC
         Training period: Eleven (11) hours
        


  • The requirements for changing the category of a Class A driver’s license are as follows, depending on the respective category:
  • From Category I to Category II-a

a)      Minimum age: 21 years
b)      Must have held Category A-I license for at least 2
c)      Medical psychosomatic fitness certificate
d)      Certificate of professionalization in passenger transport
e)      Having passed driving test for the category
f)       Payment of PEN 24.50 processing fee at Banco de la Nación: Tax No. 1600


  • From Category I to Category II-b

a)       Minimum age: 21 years
b)      Must have held Category A-I license for at least 3 years
c)      Medical psychosomatic fitness certificate
d)      Certificate of professionalization in passenger or cargo transport  
e)      Having passed driving test for the category
f)       Payment of PEN 24.50 processing fee at Banco de la Nación: Tax No. 1600

 

  • From Category II-a to Category II-b

a)       Minimum age: 21 years
b)      Must have held Category A-II-a license for at least 1 year
c)      Medical psychosomatic fitness certificate
d)      Certificate of professionalization in passenger or cargo transport  
e)      Having passed driving test for the category
f)       Payment of PEN 24.50 processing fee at Banco de la Nación: Tax No. 1600


  • From Category II-b to Category II-a

a)      Minimum age: 24 years
b)      Must have held Category A-II-b license for at least 1 year.
c)      Medical psychosomatic fitness certificate
d)      Certificate of professionalization in passenger transport
e)      Having passed driving test for the category
f)       Payment of PEN 24.50 processing fee at Banco de la Nación: Tax No. 1600

 

  • From Category II-b a Category III-b

a)       Minimum age: 24 years
b)      Must have held Category A-II-b license for at least 1 year
c)      Medical psychosomatic fitness certificate
d)      Certificate of professionalization in passenger transport
e)      Having passed driving test for the category
f)       Payment of PEN 24.50 processing fee at Banco de la Nación: Tax No. 1600

 

  • From Category III-a o III-b a Category III-c

a)       Minimum age: 27 years
b)      Must have held Category A-III-a or A-III-b license
c)      Medical psychosomatic fitness certificate
d)      Certificate of professionalization in passenger transport
e)      Having passed driving test for the category
f)       Payment of PEN 24.50 processing fee at Banco de la Nación: Tax No. 1600

 

  • Exceptionally

Holders of Class A, Category II Professional driver’s licenses (obtained under Supreme Decree 015-94-MTC) or Category II-B (granted by renewal, exchange or duplication based on the First Transitory Complementary Provision of Supreme Decree 040-2008-MTC) will be able to change the category of their Class A, Category III-a licenses until November 18, 2011, after complying with the following requirements:


a)       Payment of PEN 24.50 processing fee at Banco de la Nación: Tax No. 1600
b)      Medical psychosomatic fitness certificate
c)      Certificate of extraordinary instruction course
d)      Having passed driving test for Category A-III-a
